SUBJECT: COVERAGE INCLUDES BOSCH INJECTORS ON MB ACTROS &ATEGO
Introduction
Delphi Diesel mechanical injectors have been fitted as original equipment across a wide range of Mercedes Benz trucks since 2002. During the course of the last five years, Delphi has supplied over 500,000 injectors to Mercedes Benz and with the OE transition to Smart Injectors now in progress, this figure will continue to increase rapidly over the coming years. These injectors are fitted to the BR500, BR900 & 457LA engines present on popular vehicles such as the Actros, Atego & Citaro.
Previously, Delphi has only been able to provide a service solution for our own injectors. We are now pleased to announce the launch of a repair programme for the Bosch injector population which currently stands at approximately 2.5 million units. The all-makes repair solution uses the exact same service parts and test equipment as the Delphi OE programme.
Mechanical Injector Interchange-ability
If the chosen service option is complete injector replacement, Delphi mechanical injectors can be used to replace complete Bosch units on vehicle. The full Delphi injector range is shown below with the cross-reference between Delphi & Bosch shown where applicable:

Repair Programme for Mechanical Injectors
Delphi previously launched a repair programme for its own OE injectors (detailed in Service Instruction Note DT404).
Delphi component parts can also be used to repair Bosch injectors. Delphi nozzles can be used in the repair of Bosch injectors provided that a Delphi cap nut is fitted during the repair. Part number details are shown below:

Test Equipment Requirements
This range of injectors comprises of standard backleak injectors and backleak-free injectors. Both variants can be tested on the Hartridge Testmaster (HH700 or HH701) and the complete injector test plans are detailed on SI note DT404.
Delphi has also developed three tools that are required for the dismantling and re-assembly of the Mercedes injectors. These tools are:
