Single-cylinder injection pumps
Single-cylinder injection pumps are the “classics” among injection systems for commercial vehicles. Here each cylinder is allocated its own pump. Drive is effected via the camshaft positioned underneath the engine, either directly or via a tappet. As single pumps extend far into the engine, they are also often designated as plug-in pumps. They can help realize injection pressures of up to 1,800 bar, which makes them also suitable for diesel engines with direct injection.
The injection pump is connected via a short injection line to a conventional nozzle-and-holder/nozzle needle assembly. Single-cylinder injection pumps are used in small engines, diesel locomotives, marine engines and construction-site machines.
